STATEMENT ON THE SUPREME COURT

DECISION REGULATING GHOST GUNS

The United States Supreme Court upheld the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regulation that is critical to curbing “ghost guns,” the weapon parts kits that are virtually untraceable and causing immense damage throughout the nation. Prosecutors Against Gun Violence submitted an amicus brief supporting the ATF regulations in this case where a Houston gun parts maker sued the Biden Administration to prevent enforcement of the rule requiring gun kit makers to be licensed, perform background checks, and put serial numbers on the gun parts, which are purchased on the Internet. The Supreme Court has recognized what victims have known – that “ghost guns” are firearms and regulating these weapons are important to public safety.
