The tragedy in Florida is the 18th school shooting since the beginning of 2018. There are no more legitimate excuses left to be offered by anyone to explain how or why assault-style weapons should still be legal, and accessible to kill dozens of innocents in seconds. The unpopular truth is gun violence, all too often targeting kids, continues to be a public health and safety crisis.
What more can we say? Only this: It’s long past time for our nation’s leaders to muster the focus, the outrage, and the courage to do something about it. Prosecutors across America have proposals. They should be implemented. Now. That would be great.
