PROSECUTORS TO CONVENE SUMMIT ON MASS SHOOTINGS IN LAS VEGAS
Las Vegas — On the heels of two horrific mass shootings, killing at least 30 and injuring more than 50 others in El Paso and Dayton, Prosecutors Against Gun Violence (PAGV) announced today that it will convene a national summit in Las Vegas on October 4th titled, The New Norm: Mass Shootings in America.
“Our nation’s children are growing up today in an America where mass shootings in our schools, houses of worship, workplaces and entertainment venues are commonplace —this cannot be,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance and Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, Co-Chairs of PAGV. “Our upcoming summit in Las Vegas will convene prosecutors from across the country with an array of experts in public safety, mental health, domestic terrorism, and other fields, to tackle the uniquely American problem of mass shootings.”
Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson will host the summit in Las Vegas two years after the deadliest mass shooting in United States history occurred on the Las Vegas Strip at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on October 1, 2017.
In connection with the summit, PAGV is partnering with the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to produce a white paper on the issue of mass shootings in the United States.
