FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 13, 2023
Prosecutors Against Gun Violence today announced a new Co-Chair, Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein.
PAGV Co-Chair Darcel D. Clark, Bronx County District Attorney, said, “I am pleased to Co-Chair PAGV with City Attorney Zach Klein. He has an impressive background and has served on PAGV’s Executive Board. With his dedication and enthusiasm, we will continue the organization’s mission to end gun violence, which has claimed too many lives in this country. I look forward to working with him to advocate for legislation to tackle gun violence as a public health crisis, and by confronting this epidemic in all forms. I thank Joyce Dudley, former Santa Barbara County District Attorney, for her service as PAGV Co-Chair and I wish her a happy retirement.”
PAGV Co-Chair Zach Klein, Columbus City Attorney, said, “All across our nation, senseless acts of violence continue to devastate communities and make us all less safe as more and more guns flood our streets. I look forward to working alongside Co-Chair Clark and prosecutors from around the country who are saying enough is enough. We need to do more to get illegal guns off our streets, keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves and others, and keep our kids and communities safe. By coming together, sharing best practices and advocating for real, meaningful change, we can reduce gun violence and save lives.”
Zach Klein has served as Columbus City Attorney since January 1, 2018, after previously serving as a member of Columbus City Council from 2011-2017, including two years as Council President. As City Attorney, Klein focuses on public safety, encourages economic progress, and defends the civil rights of all Columbus residents. He has been at the forefront of initiatives to change criminal justice policy and defends the City’s ability to enact common sense gun safety measures. His office also takes on domestic violence cases, dangerous drug houses and hubs of violent crime.
Klein graduated from The Ohio State University and Capital University Law School. He began his career in public service as a law clerk for the Ohio Third District Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He has served in the White House as Deputy Director of Management and Administration in the Office of Vice President Joe Biden, and as the Deputy Chief of Legal Services in the Ohio Attorney General’s office. He also worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney.
